"Even as the U.S. attempts to obstruct, Iran failed to buy the S-300 system [of Russia], but these systems are being developed in the country and will be officially launched [Persian calendar next year]," said Deputy Commander of the Iranian armed forces for self-sufficiency and research, Admiral Farhad Amiri, quoted by IRNA news agency.
He added that making Iran the S-300 system was being rolled and subsystems have been tested. Bavar-373 missile system is planned to be exhibited in 2014.
Under a contract signed in 2007, Russia should submit at least five units of the S-300 missile systems to Iran. Moscow refused to deliver the system to Iran under the pretext that the system was included in the fourth round of sanctions in the UN Security Council anti-Iran. Over the last few years, Iran has achieved self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
